This particular glass evil eye bead came from a vacation trip to Turkey. The Turks call it "Nazar Boncuğu." It is a symbol found not only in Turkey, but in Greece, the Balkans, the Middle East and in south Asia. is believed to ward off bad luck originating in another person's resentments and jealousies. But I think it is a very pretty image, especially when worked into jewelry.
Kathy Zola hand-braided the cord from 7 strands or blue and white cotton linen acrylic blend yarn for her shop, Kathy's Kaps. She works in a pet-free and smoke-free New England home.
